Camino de Santiago

Writer's picture: Robin RudwickRobin Rudwick

Ruth and I are walking the Camino de Santiago, specifically the Camino Frances. This is a route from St. Jean, Pied de Port, in France to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain.

This is a journey of 800km or 497 miles. Or the equivalent of walking from London to somewhere past Carnoustie in Scotland. Maybe I should include a link to that Proclaimers song... I'm Gonna Be https://g.co/kgs/BCMHex

We are carrying everything we need for the trip in our backpacks. All the guide books say you should carry no more than 10% of your bodyweight. My weight this morning was 75.6kg (weight increase of 3kg since I stopped the spinning classes 3 weeks ago). My pack weight this morning was 7.8 kg. So this is 0.3kg overweight OR I should have drunk more beer over the last few weeks.
