Day 5 - Pamplona to Puenta La Reina

We left early today 0630 for a long walk out of town, via the University of Navarra, which is a lovely campus university. Ruth was impressed that they had a botanical map of the University.

And that's why I married her!

We started the walk with an old Spanish guy. But I think he only wanted help to get out of Pamplona and ditched us soon after.

Ruth has problem with her left foot. We went to a shop called Caminotecha and found a gel pad sleeve for foot. But the pace is slow. It's more of a 'head down and grind it out Type of day'.

We were taking it easy but it was a long climb out of town. Ruth was collecting cereal specimins from fields as we passed for identification later.

The highest point we reached was highlighted by huge wind turbines, of which there are many.

There was also some interesting silhouettes of Pilgrims made of steel plate.

There was also a Monument to 92 people killed between 1936 and 1937 by the Franco regime in the Navarra area

Then there was a horrendous walk down a steep path strewn with loose rocks.

After that it was easy, just a long hard slog. We stopped for a beer then walked on past a nice mural

And ended up at Puente La Reina with a nice double room. But it was a hard day and Ruth has the blister to prove it.
